Piano tuning is recommended twice a year but should be done at least once a year to keep the piano at the proper pitch. Typically the piano is tuned to A440 unless otherwise specified. If the piano is really old sometimes it is tuned to itself because the strings might not be able to handle being brought up to A440. This can be determined during the appointment.
This is typically needed if the piano hasn't been tuned in a few years. A pitch raise is a quick tuning to get the piano up to pitch and then needs gone over again with the regular tuning in order to have the piano more stable and hold the tuning better.
Grand piano cleaning involves pulling the action and cleaning out. It also includes cleaning the keybed, under the strings and in between the tuning pins. While the action is out we lubricate the back action, keybed friction points and pedal trapwork to eliminate any squeaking so all the mechanics are working smoothly and as frictionless as possible. Older pianos sometimes don't clean up as well do to years of grime caked onto the board and plate. Prices vary from piano to piano.
Upright piano cleaning involves pulling the keys and cleaning out the keybed. Older pianos sometimes don't clean up as well do to years of grime caked onto the board and plate. Prices can vary a little depending on how dirty the piano is and how involved taking all the parts and pulling the action is.
Whether it's sticking keys, notes not working properly or anything else we can diagnose and fix it. Prices can vary on repairs depending on many factors. If its an easy fix that doesn't take a lot of extra time during the appointment we might not charge anything. If the action needs to be pulled or certain parts replaced and also time can all be factors of pricing. Before we do anything extra we will explain everything and get the ok from the customer on how to proceed.
Texting or emailing photos of damage may be sufficient enough to give and close estimate on fixing any damage. If needed we can come out and write up an estimate on repairs for the estimate fee.
Whether it's an insurance claim, a bid on a restoration, or an evaluation of the piano to find out its value for resale or insurance coverage we can come out and give you an official writeup.
